LOOP ARRANGER — QUICK START

Turn a loop into an editable tech-house arrangement using your own clips.

WHAT YOU NEED

Ableton Live 12.4 or later, Max for Live, and Max 9.
The core arranging workflow has been tested on macOS. Windows has not been tested.

Use a 4/4 Set with a static tempo. Your source phrase can be 1, 2, 4, 8,
16 or 32 bars long. MIDI clips and warped audio clips are supported.

INSTALL

1. Unzip your download and copy Loop Arranger.amxd into your Ableton User
Library. The device is a single self-contained file. Keep this guide and
the license with your download for reference.
2. Drag Loop Arranger.amxd onto an empty MIDI track in your Set.
3. Click OPEN ARRANGER. The device can use clips on the other tracks.

MAKE YOUR FIRST ARRANGEMENT

1. Choose your source phrase.
In Arrangement View, place the loop brace around the phrase you want
to develop. Each source clip must fit inside the brace. If a clip crosses
either edge, split it at that edge in Live before scanning. Multiple clips
and gaps inside the phrase are supported.

2. Scan the loop.
Stop playback and turn off recording, then click Scan loop. Read any Notes
shown by the device. Unfreeze or unmute source tracks when needed, clear
solo states, and return Session-overridden tracks to Arrangement playback.

3. Confirm the parts.
Check the role beside each track. Separate kick, hats and percussion
tracks give the arrangement more control. A combined drum loop stays
together. Use Vocal chop for a short recurring phrase and Full vocal for
a phrase that needs to stay complete. Choose Exclude for unwanted tracks.
Use the page arrows if the source contains more than six tracks.

4. Choose a direction.
Hook & Drop: tease a hook, deliver its payoff, then give it space.
Rolling Groove: long grooves, changing support parts, short breathers.
Slow Reveal: introduce ingredients gradually and save the fullest return.
Vocal Journey: alternate complete vocal phrases with instrumental space.

5. Shape the preview.
Adjust Length, Layer density and Hook presence. Click a section in the
preview and use its minus/plus buttons to change its length. Each step
preserves one complete source phrase. The duration is an estimate at
   the scanned tempo.

6. Build.
Click Build arrangement. Editable copies are placed on the same tracks,
after the existing timeline content, with at least eight bars of space.
New clip names identify the sections. Your source clips stay in place.
Click Back to Live to close the panel and listen through your arrangement.

Trying another version? Rescan first. A new build goes after the existing
material; changing a preset only changes the preview, not an earlier result.

CANCEL OR REMOVE A BUILD

Cancel is available while clips are being copied. It stops the build and
attempts to remove the copies created so far. Edited or unverifiable copies
may be left in Live; the status message tells you when that happens.

Remove last build targets only the most recent result tracked by this device
session. Read its confirmation carefully. Live does not expose every edit to
the device: changes such as audio fades or note expression may go undetected
and be removed with those generated clips. Clip envelopes disable automatic
removal. If you want to keep your manual edits, choose Keep arrangement.

Reloading the device clears its record of the previous build. You can still
edit or remove that arrangement directly in Live.

FINISH THE TRACK

The device places your existing parts. Add your own fills, transitions and
automation in Live. Track, device and master automation are not rearranged,
and section locators are not created. Existing mix settings, routing and
devices remain in place. Listen through the result before using it as a
finished track, especially when your clips contain fades or expression.

IF BUILD IS UNAVAILABLE

Open Notes and resolve the stated issue, then rescan. Common fixes are:
split a clip at the loop-brace edge; enable Warp on audio; stop playback and
recording; use a supported source length in 4/4; or confirm at least one
available track has a musical role instead of Exclude.

The ? button in the panel opens the usage guide. No external account,
AI subscription or internet service is required to arrange your clips.
